The Doctor said I had heart disease. He said I should have an operation to bypass the blockages in my blood vessels carrying blood to my heart. I had just read a book by Dr. Ornish that said I could reverse heart disease with diet and exercise. So I tried that. I held out for about a year and a half. My cholesterol went down; my LDL went way down; but my HDL did not come up. That means I was not reversing the heart disease. I agreed to the operation.

A doctor's job is to make you well. A doctor will do all that he knows. But God is the true healer. After the operation, I have new blood vessels that are carrying blood to my heart. But the problem is not solved. Unless I find a way to change things I could need another operation in about 10 years.

If what you are doing is not solving the problem, then change what you are doing!

I went to the Bible to see what God has to say about heart disease. It does not say anything about heart disease but it does talk about strengthening your heart and about creating a new heart.

The concordance has different words that are translated heart which might lead you to different conclusions about some of the passages. However, I am not a Hebrew scholar and I choose to use the English translation. Mark 9:23 does say that all things are possible to him who believes. Well, I believe that the English translation is a true translation and where the English says heart, then God means heart.

Exodus 15:26. says that if you do what God says then you will be healed. God prescribes several dietary laws including eat no animal fat. Dr. Ornish, "Reversing Heart Disease", says that if you eat the right foods (excluding all animal fat is part of the diet), exercise and meditate, you can reverse heart disease. Mr. Robert Kowalski, "The New 8 Week Cholesterol Cure", says that if you change your lifestyle, that includes diet and exercise, then you can reverse heart disease. The scientists might be wrong, but God is never wrong.

I have listed the verses that I found in the Bible that relate to the heart. I have written some prayers that will help to implement these verses. Read the verses and the prayers out loud every day. I believe that your heart will be strengthened and healed.

Psalms 73:26. My flesh and my heart may fail; but God is the strength of my heart.

Psalms 31:24. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Dear God, In the Name of Jesus, I hope in you. Strengthen my heart according to your word.

In the next verses where the English translation says heart I choose to interpret that to include the biologic organ of the heart.

Psalms 34:18. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.

Psalms 27:14. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart.

Psalms 147:3. The Lord heals the broken heart.

Dear God, in the Name of Jesus, I fear not, as you have commanded, I trust in you. I ask you to heal and strengthen my heart according to your word.

Ezekiel 18:31. Cast away from you all your transgressions whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: or why will you die.

Dear God, In the Name of Jesus, I ask that you forgive me of all of my transgressions and create in me a new heart.

I know a lady who was told that she has a calcified heart. That sounds like a heart of stone. Therefore, where God promises to change a heart of stone to a heart of flesh I choose to believe the English words and pray and ask for this change of heart.

Ezekiel 36:26. A new heart also will I give you, and an new spirit will I put in you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and I will give you a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 11:19. And I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh and will give them an new heart of flesh.

Dear God, In the name of Jesus, I ask you, in accordance with your word, take away the heart of stone and replace it with a strong heart of flesh.

Hebrews 13:9. Amplified. It is good for the heart to be established and enabled and strengthened by means of grace.

Where do you get grace to strengthen your heart? Go to the 4th chapter of Hebrews to get grace:

Hebrews 4:16. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Dear God, In the Name of Jesus, I come boldly to your throne to obtain mercy and grace. Use that grace to strengthen, enable and establish my heart.

One form of heart disease is defined as an accumulation of plaque in the blood vessels. It seems to me that if God has promised to cleanse your polluted blood that should remove the heart disease.

Ezekiel 16:6. When I passed by and saw you polluted in your own blood I said unto you when you were in your blood: "Live!" Yea I said unto you, when you were in your blood: "Live!"

Joel 3:21. For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed.

Dear God, In the Name of Jesus, I ask you to cleanse my blood of the plaque that is blocking and clogging my blood vessels.

Philippians 4:6. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Dear God, In the Name of Jesus, I thank you that you have heard my prayers and have healed my heart. Amen.

Read these scriptures and pray these prayers out loud each day.

I pray that you will have a healthy heart and a long life.
