WHO ARE YOU,

NOW THAT YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN?

by Dennis Kelly

2005

Many Christians, new and old, have not learned what happened when they were saved. Satan knows and will prevent you from receiving all that is yours to claim. However, if you know what is yours, you can find out how to receive from the Lord rather than suffering through the tribulations that Satan would give you. I do not know all that you are, but in this paper I list some of the benefits that you can claim. Read the Bible and find out how to claim your rights.

So you accepted Jesus as your savior. Now what? What does that do for you? What will happen next? Are you really changed?

Many Christians, new and old, have not learned what happened when they were saved. Satan knows and will prevent you from receiving all that is yours to claim. However, if you know what is yours, you can find out how to receive from the Lord rather than suffering through the tribulations that Satan would give you. I do not know all that you are, but in this paper I list some of the benefits that you can claim. Read the Bible and find out how to claim your rights.

You are saved.

Saved from what? You are saved from damnation. Mark 16:16. Your sins are forgiven. Colossians 2:13.

1. Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

2. If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. Romans 10:9.

3. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved... Mark 16:16.

These seemingly different ways to be saved are in fact progressive steps in receiving what the Lord has for you.

The first, Acts 2:21, is a cry for help. It will get you saved. This is the promise of the God. This is the beginning. God is able to complete that which he has begun. Romans 4:21 Salvation will last forever. Isaiah 51:6. God can keep you from falling away. Jude 24.

The second, Romans 10:9, is a declaration of faith and belief. You declare, before God, that you choose to serve a living Lord: Jesus. This opens doors for you to begin to receive what God has for you.

The third, Mark 16:16, is a proclamation before God and man that you have accepted Jesus as savior and proclaims that you will follow him. The kingdom of heaven will open doors to you. You must begin to walk the walk and talk the talk. The benefits of being a Christian are open to you, but you must claim and receive them as your rightful heritage.

You are a child of God.

For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26. God is a great King. Psalms 47:2. That makes you a Prince or a Princess in the Kingdom of God.

You do not feel like a Princess? Well, declare yourself. Claim your benefits. Know what God has promised you so that the enemy can not deceive you and disqualify you for the benefit. Colossians 2:18.

You are healed.

The new Testament was originally written in Greek. The Greek word that was translated "saved" in Acts 2:21. also means healed". The Bible says "whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved". It could have been translated "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be healed". So you could say: "Jesus heal me!" and you will be healed.

Jesus his own self bare our sins in his body on the tree, that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness: by the stripes of Jesus you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24.

Jesus took your afflictions, sicknesses and diseases to the cross with him. Matthew 8:17. They were nailed there Colossians 2:14. and his blood was shed over them. There are no more sicknesses that belong to you. All of yours were taken to the cross. If they do not belong to you, refuse them and cast them out. Mark 16:17. Jesus said that I give you power over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19. You can cast out any sickness and any disease. Sickness and disease

come from the enemy and you have power to cast them out.

You are redeemed.

Redeemed means that you were bought back. The price for your sins, which brought curses on you, has been paid with the broken body and blood of Jesus. In Jesus we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins in accordance with the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7.

You have been redeemed from the curse of the law. Galatians 3:13 The curse includes all of the sicknesses written in chapter 28 of Deuteronomy and all those sicknesses not written in chapter 28 of Deuteronomy. That covers all of the sicknesses that there are. The curse includes many other calamities and catastrophes. Be sure to read Deuteronomy 28. After each curse you can say that you are redeemed.

You are redeemed from the curse that Adam and Eve received when they fell from grace. Gen 3:16 Read that curse and claim your redemption.

You are made whole.

The new Testament was originally written in Greek. The Greek word that was translated saved also means "made whole". The Bible says "whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved". It could have been translated "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be made whole." So you could say: "Jesus make me whole" and you shall be made whole.

You say that does not work. Well, have you learned to fly an airplane? Does that mean that you cannot fly an airplane? Or does it mean that you have not learned how to fly an airplane? Airplanes can fly whether you know how to fly them or not. The Bible works whether you know how to use it or not. All you have to do is learn how. Is it easy to do? Yes, once you know how. Is it easy to learn? Not necessarily, but you have the Holy Spirit to teach you. John 14:26.

You are prospered.

The Greek word that was translated saved also means "prospered". The Bible says: "whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved". It could have been translated: "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be prospered." So you could say "Jesus make me prosperous!" and you shall be made prosperous. The Bible works whether you know how to use it or not. All you have to do is learn how. Have the Holy Spirit teach you. John 14:26.

Beloved I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. 3 John 2

God knew what he was doing when he saved you.

In him we have redemption though his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. Ephesians 1:7-8 God understood what was happening when we were saved and redeemed. He knows the end from the beginning. Isaiah 46:10. He knows all that we are and all that we were.

You are a new creature.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, and the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV. You were taught...to put on the new self... Ephesians 4:22-24. You have put off the old self and put on the new self. Colossians 3:9-10

The old you has passed away. God has now filled you with the Holy Spirit. Galatians 4:6. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus. A combination of the man that you were and the Holy Spirit. The first time that the world saw anything like you was 2000 years ago when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in the upper room. Acts 2:1-21 Those disciples were both men and women, and included Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Acts 1:13-14. Those disciples came out of the upper room and changed the world. You are a part of that group and are still changing the world.

You are righteous.

Jesus became sin that you might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 Your righteousness has been bestowed upon you. It came with the salvation. You have no sin in you. You may appear before the throne of God and ask for anything that you want. Hebrews 4:16. You are entitled to anything that the Bible says a righteous person is eligible for. Righteousness is the scepter of his kingdom. Hebrews 1:8. The scepter is a symbol of the kingdom. You are now a symbol of the kingdom of God.

The prayers of a righteous man have great effect. James 5:19.

The bones of a righteous man will not be broken. Psalms 34:19-20

Terror will be far removed from a righteous man. Isaiah 54:14

You are anointed.

Now he which established us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, is God. 2 Corinthians 1:21. You have an anointing from the Holy One. 1 John 2:20.

He has reproved kings for their sakes: saying Touch not my anointed do my prophets no harm. Psalms 105:14-15

God gives you treasures, levels mountains, open gates, removes bars, gives you strength, brings prosperity. Isaiah 45:1-7

You are protected.

If you are Christ's then are you Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29 God is your shield and your exceeding great reward. Genesis 15:1.

The 91st Psalm is known as the protection Psalm. In order to claim its promises you should recite the 2nd verse "Jesus you are my refuge and my fortress in you do I trust." This verse is your statement that the rest of the Psalm is in effect. God promises to lead the way. Isaiah 52:12. He will take the point and bring up the rear. Isaiah 52:12, Isaiah 58:8. You are surrounded with His protection. Psalms 34:7 God defends his people. Isaiah 51:22.

Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19.

The enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. Deuteronomy 28:7

You have angels that minister to you. Are not all angels ministering spirits spent to serve those who will inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:14.

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him and delivers them. Palms 34:7.

Then the Lord opened the servants eyes and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17.

The Holy Spirit Abides in you.

Jesus said that he would send the Holy Spirit to abide in You. John 16:7. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit. John 14:16-17, John 14:26, Ephesians 5:18. The Holy Spirit is here to lead you into all truth. John 16:13. Peter said: "repent and be baptized...in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the Holy Spirit". Acts 2:38.

You have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16.

You can get wisdom by asking for it. James 1:5.

You can speak with other tongues.

When the disciples came pouring out of the upper room they were speaking in many different languages. Jerusalem is and was an international city. The visitors were amazed to hear the story of Jesus told in their own language. Acts 2:4-12. Paul claims that he speaks in tongues more than any of you. 1 Corinthians 14:18. When we do not know how to pray, we are to let the Holy Spirit speak through us to the ear of God, with words that we do not know, in words that we probably would not otherwise dare to speak. Romans 8:26-27 Speaking in tongues is to edify yourself. 1 Corinthians 14:4. If you have not spoken in tongues then ask God to give you the gift of the Holy Spirit as evidenced by the speaking in tongues. Acts 10:44-47.

Then go to your prayer closet and speak in another language. It sounded like gibberish to me when I started. It still does. I do not know what I am saying, but I trust that the Holy Spirit is leading me. I asked for evidence that the Holy Spirit was doing this thing and I discovered that I was making up hymns and singing them. Ephesians 5:18-19 Try it you will like it. Psalms 34:8. It adds power to your prayers.

Jesus has been given all power in earth and in heaven. Mat 28:18. Jesus has power over all flesh. John 17:2. He has said I give you power over all of the power of the enemy. Luke 10:19. You want to be teamed up with Jesus. You want to be working with him. That is where the power is. As a Christian you are entitled to do this.

Conclusion.

Do not consider this an exhaustive list of the benefits that you get for being a Christian. I do not know all the benefits, but I do get excited by this list. I am sure there is even more that I have not yet learned.

This is a beginning. The enabling of a Christian. Jesus said why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not do what I tell you to do. Luke 6:46. Lord means boss. If Jesus is your boss, then you need to do what he tells you. As with any job, the better you do your job the more authority is given to you. As you walk with the Lord your abilities increase and your authority gets cranked up. You also start to deal with tougher problems. You receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Acts 1:8.

Read your Bible to see what you can find. Discovering the promises that God has made and then making them real in your life is exciting. Remember the promises of God are "Yes" and "Amen" in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 1:20.

As you learn what to do to receive what God has promised you, you will wonder why you struggled against it for so long. These benefits are yours to claim. You claim them by reading about them in the Bible; asking God to display these benefits in your life; and by practicing what the word says you can do. Like anything else, you learn by doing. You get good at it by practice. Taste of the Lord and see that he is good. Psalms 34:8.

If you do not receive what the Bible says is yours, ask God for wisdom concerning what you should be receiving. James 1:5. If you ask in prayer and do not receive then you are asking wrong. James 4:3. Ask God how to do it right. As you get it right the blessings will flow.

God Bless You! Have a good time in your walk with the Lord.
